I Give a Damn Social Mob

I Give a Damn Social Mob

Who Am I?

“I know you’re a birth mom and you’re telling that story,” a friend of mine said.

“I also understand that your concussion has changed you and that has been difficult,” she continued.

“But who are you? Who are you without all of that?” she asked.

“Who is Gina, not the birth mom or the TBI survivor. Who are you?” She repeated.

I hesitated in my response. I wanted to come back with your typical list of favorites or I enjoy doing this ___ and ___ but I knew that wasn’t what she was asking me.

I simply replied with, “Okay, I hear you.”

The following day, I let the thought float around in my mind. Who am I? She was right, I’m much more than a birthmother or a TBI survivor. I’m also much more than a daughter, sister, mother, and wife. These are mere labels, as a society, that we place upon ourselves. I wanted to dive in deeper. Who am I as a mother? Who am I as a wife?

Who is Gina?

After the kids left for school, I blasted my music throughout the house and started loading the dishes in the dishwasher, when I had this thought...

I love to serve others.

The whole reason I started running a non-profit organization and continued to run it for fourteen years was, I loved to serve! I love the warmth that comes from reaching out to those who are in need or those who need an extra smile on their face. I love to open doors for people, buy someone’s coffee in the drive-thru behind me, or send a friend a thank you card. However big or small it may be, I love helping those around me feel better about themselves and their day.

I believe so much in service, that after I had this question of “who am I?” My first and strongest thought was this. It compelled me to introduce to you, with great excitement, the I Give a Damn Social Mob… because I give a damn about YOU, about those around me, about relationships, friendships, and about being a NICE person.

I Give a Damn Social Mob is a day of service for ALL OF US!

It’s a day to serve those around you, to find those who are in need, and Give a Damn! I have chosen the 8th of EVERY month for this project because the symbol 8 represents, what goes around comes around, as kindness often does! I am encouraging all of you to join me in this social mob of serving those around you. Yes, this is something we should focus on daily, but on the 8th of every month, I am asking you to say “I Give a Damn” and be more aware of those in need.

How To Get Involved:

Simply say, “I Give a Damn (out loud or to yourself, it doesn’t really matter) about people, my community, my friends, my family, and be willing to serve those around me.”

Once you have completed your act of kindness, comment on my post (on the 8th of every month) with the number 8. This will help us create a social mob of kindness throughout the world! If you did 3 good deeds, comment three times with an 8.

*** Three comments, three 8's, for three good deeds.

This will take place here on my website ginacrotts.com, on FB ginacrottswriter but mostly on my Instagram ginacrottswriter.

If you are not already following me on those platforms, please do!

Spread The I Give a Damn Social Mob:

Do you want to also share the I Give a Damn Social Mob on your social media platform? Post the following meme, be sure to TAG ME ginacrottswriter, and ask your followers to say I Give a Damn, on the 8th of every month!

I want to keep these acts of kindness anonymous, but I also want to see how many people we can reach on one single day, each month! The world could use a mass social mob of good deeds, don't you think?

Please SHARE the, I Give a Damn Social Mob with everyone and start thinking about what you will do on October 8th to show someone you actually give a damn!

Much Love!
