Was That a Sign? How to Recognize and Trust Spiritual Signs
"Do you think that was a sign?"
It's one of the questions people ask me most often.
Maybe they keep seeing the same number everywhere they go. Maybe a particular song comes on at just the right moment. They have a dream they can't stop thinking about, or a conversation that feels too perfectly timed to be a coincidence.
Then comes the question.
"Do you think that was a sign?"
Sometimes the answer is so obvious that I can't help but laugh and say, "You can't get a sign-er sign than that!"
But what I really want people to understand is this: Most of the time, they're not actually asking me if it was a sign. They're asking if they can trust themselves.
We spend so much of our lives looking outside ourselves for confirmation. We ask friends what they think. We search online for meanings. We wonder if someone else can tell us whether what we experienced was "real."
What if the answer isn't found in someone else's interpretation?
What if the sign was meant for you?
I believe signs are all around us. The more we learn to slow down, the more we begin to notice that guidance doesn't always arrive in dramatic ways. Often, it comes through a quiet feeling, an unexpected conversation, perfect timing, or a gentle nudge that simply won't leave us alone. I've found that intuition rarely shouts.
It whispers.
The signs meant for you have a way of finding you. Your only job is to notice them... and then have the courage to trust what they awaken within you.
No one else has lived your life. No one else knows the questions you've been asking, the prayers you've whispered, or the intentions you've been holding in your heart.
That's why your signs are personal. They are meant for you.
Instead of asking, "Was that really a sign?" try asking yourself, "Why did this catch my attention?" or "What is this inviting me to notice?"
The more you begin to trust your own experience, the more you'll discover that signs aren't something you have to chase. They're already finding you.
The next time you catch yourself asking, "Was that a sign?" remember this: You might already know the answer. Maybe you're simply looking for permission to believe it.
What if today, you gave yourself that permission?
How do I know if something is a sign?
Signs often capture your attention in a meaningful way. They may arrive through repeated experiences, symbols, conversations, dreams, or moments that seem perfectly timed. Rather than asking whether something "counts" as a sign, consider what it stirred within you and why it felt significant.
Can songs be spiritual signs?
Sometimes a song seems to arrive at exactly the right moment with lyrics that speak directly to your heart. Many people experience music as a meaningful form of guidance or encouragement.
Should I trust my intuition about signs?
Learning to trust your intuition is a practice. The more you slow down, reflect, and notice your own inner knowing, the more confidence you can develop in recognizing the signs that feel meaningful to you.
